How to check your cylinder to verify its a good core.
Sleeved- Place a magnet on the inside of the cylinder and if it sticks it will be sleeved. Also look at the skirting to see if you can Physically see a Iron sleeve. A OEM plated cylinder, a magnet will slightly stick to the bore.
Ported- Look to see if any grind marks on the intake or exhaust ports. Usually it will be a different color as material has been removed.
Over Bored- Take a set of calipers and measure the bore of the cylinder. You will need to know what stock Bore size is for your cylinder.
Aftermarket- Most aftermarket cylinders will have the company named stamped on it, Cylinder works is on the skirting. Most OEM cylinders will have a casting number stamped on it but Not all, Some Older models will have the casting number.
If you have any Questions about your cylinder Please Email us Photo's and a detailed description of the machine you are working on.
